Is skype blocked by your ISP in a particular country? This is one of the most annoying situations faced by people who travel for work or leisure. iPhone not charging

Is your iPhone not charging? You have tried pushing the cable harder, keeping the phone in many random positions and sometimes the phone starts charging. Thinking that the problem is with the lightning cable, you may have even bought a new one or tried your friend's cable just to find that the same problem exists!

If this is the case, the problem usually is with the lightning port you have in your iPhone. One of the simplest remedy you can try is to clean the port using a tooth pick. Take a toothpick and try picking out dirt accumulated within the port. You might sometimes be surprised with the amount of dirt that may come out. (I was, when I faced the same problem and tried this out) Use the tooth pick carefully so that you don't damage the connections within the port. It won't get easily damaged unless you show all your frustrations on the toothpick. 

Once you got all the junk out of the port try blowing into the port just to make sure the port is clear and you may try plugging in your lighting charger. Hopefully it should start charging your phone.

Easy way to use hello card

Making international calls using Hello card is a quite pocket friendly way. With UAE having a huge expat community, international calls are made in crazy huge numbers. But most of the people complain about the boring procedure they have to go through, before they can make a call. To make things worse, if the dialed number is busy, one has to go through the whole procedure again from beginning.

International calls using Hello cards can be made easy by following the steps below:

Step 1) Dial as per the following format on the phone:

80043556,2,<15 digit card number>#

Break Down:

• 80043556   - this is the tollfree number you dial to access hello card IVR

• ,                - this is called pause. It can be added by pressing and holding the * key on the keypad. Some phones may indicate this by the letter P. Its function is to provide a pause before                       dialing the next digit.   

• 2               - this is the language selection number. 2 is for english. You may change this to your preferred language as indicated by the IVR.

• <>               - Enter the 15 digit Hello card number followed by the # key. 

Step 2) Save the dialled number and give a name. eg. Hello

Now you have a contact named hello with phone number as mentioned above.

Step3) From contacts, select and call 'Hello'. 

Now you can hear everything happening automatically. The IVR will take you to the last step where you have to dial the phone number. Now dial the number and press # and enjoy the call.

Why is Pound represented by lb?

Most of the abbreviations are quite easy to comprehend. kg for kilogram, cm for centimetre, in for inch and the list goes on. But why is it that the imperial unit of mass - Pound is represented as lb. Doesn't quite make any sense right? lb can in no way be read as pound! But still we continue to represent pound as lb without even thinking about it. 

Here's the catch. It comes from ancient Rome. Libra was a unit of mass used then, which was equivalent to 328.9 grams. Libra, in Latin means scales or balance. This abbreviation of Libra is used to represent Pound nowadays.
